Silver Poinsettia Christmas – PCC223

Sadly my Christmas crafting is rapidly coming to an end for 2016, I certainly have managed to squeeze loads in this year which is fantastic.  Today I have the last of my Christmas cards for the year (about to express post these with some goodies first thing Monday) and have decided to finish with a less traditional colour combination of Island Indigo, Pool Party, Silver and White.

After making the Poinsettias for my Christmas Wreath this year (see my post here) I decided to see how these beauties would look on a Christmas card.  I made them using the Silver Glimmer Paper from Stampin’ Up! and am so pleased with how they turned out.  I looked to my favourite Sketch Challenge site Paper Craft Crew and found they had the perfect layout to showcase my flowers.

I wanted to keep my colour palette simple and decided to use the ‘direct to paper’ technique to colour to top strip of my whisper white card front panel (I just rubbed the Pool Party ink pad across the top of the panel).  I added a touch a texture with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I wanted only a fine embellishment at the top and after much trial and error I finally decided to take the Silver Ribbon from the Glitter Ribbon Combo Pack in the Occasions Catalogue and, after tying a knot in it, separated the strands to give a softer look.  The greeting is from the Tin of Tags Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up! which has been a much loved Christmas stamp set this year.

Just in case you are wondering where I got my Pool Party epoxy centres for my Poinsettias I can share my secret with you – all I did was take the largest White Perfect Accents from Stampin’ Up!, removed the white backing and replaced with a Pool Party circle cut using the medium circle in the Owl Builder Punch.  I adhered the circle to the epoxy dot with a little Tombow and allowed it to dry before attaching to the centre of my flower with a mini glue dot, EASY!

I can’t believe it but I finished all ten of these in one morning – now to get about ‘de-glittering’ (yes that is a real thing) my crafting room!
