Quilted Birthday

I know by now you have seen some of the amazing Christmas projects that are coming out of the new Stampin’ Up! 2017 Holiday catalogue and I am sure you have seen the gorgeous Quilted Christmas Suite and all the lovely cards made using the Quilt Builder Framelits!

I love these Christmas projects, however I decided to see what else I could create with the fabulous framelits and something non-christmas too …. so after playing for most of the day with the framelits I finally settled on new pattern using six cuts of the large square framelit.

At this stage I was going to pop this 6″ x 8″ pattern into a shadow box frame to hang on the wall … then I realised I was almost out of crafting time so decided to opt for a smaller card front.

I added a little interest and colour to the quilted pieces by using the Paisleys & Posies stamp set as well as the Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

You may be wondering how I got the extra stitched squares which are not part of the Quilt Builder Framelit set. Easy! I used the Stitched Shaped Framelits to cut out squares to fit the new spaces created by the new lay-out – perfect!

I am still going to make a framed Quilt piece of art work with this new pattern but thought I would share this idea with you all in the meantime.
