At the start of the year there seems to be an endless stream of birthdays for our family and it also seems for the friends including my children’s friends. Today I am sharing with you an ‘astrological’ inspired card for a 16 year old who is a Pisces star sign. Now this card looks very simple I know so I am a little embarrassed to say that it took me the best part of a day to complete this card (with drying and thinking time LOL).
The basis for this card was to take the constellation of Pisces and make it into a card. I knew I wanted it to look like it was in the night sky of course so decided to use my aquapainter and the Night of Navy re-inker from Stampin’ Up! to create an abstract-ish background. Now for those that know me you will totally understand how hard it was for me to just let the ‘colours flow’ on the water colour paper and even harder to purposely flick splotches of ink over the paper!!! After I let the inked up back ground dry I next added some random white dots to the background with Whisper White ink and the Gorgeous Grunge splotch image.
Now all I had to do was add the constellation, easy right? Well, I used the above image that I found on the internet and traced it onto the front of the card, I used my white gel pen to mark the dots and embossed them with white embossing powder to make them stand out just a little more. Once all the dots (stars) where in place I joined them all up with my white gel pen to get the finished constellation. I used a Stampin’ Write Marker to add the little Pisces symbol and then used the Labeler Alphabet set from Stampin’ Up! to complete the front. Adding a little Silver Glimmer paper as a matt for the card front really finished it off nicely.
I was a challenge for me this one but happy with the end result of my effort.
