PCCCS#196 – Time of Year

Stampin' Up! Stamping T! - Time of Year

I am really starting to get back into challenges and have decided to join the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge again this week, the sketch was just so fun I could resist!  I tend to often take a fair amount of ‘poetic licence’ with sketch challenges and just love how a sketch can get my mind racing with the different ways it could work for a card or project.  This week I focused on the new Time of Year stamp set from Stampin’ Up! which is one of the new hostess sets that is available in the new catalogue.  The banner greetings just seemed so perfect for this sketch!

I decided to use the small flower images from the set to add the splotch feature to my card front and loved how nicely it teamed with the Rose cut out from the Rose Garden Thinlits Dies.  Instead of the butterfly as the main feature I picked up the butterfly from the sketch to add as the smaller embellishment.  Instead of the circle from the sketch I decided on a smaller banner made using Vellum fitted my card better and allowed me to add the little extra sentiment that I needed.

So here is the sketch for this week … you will see what I mean about just using these sketching as the creative starting point.

Tanya, I love your take on this week’s sketch. The rose die-cut is stunning against the DSP. Great idea using the flowers in place of the splotch patterns, too. And what a soft and feminine look the colours you’ve chosen given the card! Thanks so much for joining our Paper Craft Crew Challenge this week.

  2. I really like the new Time of Year set, and how you used the banner in the focal point. Great use of the flowers for the background, as well. Thanks for joining us at the Paper Craft Crew challenge this week! ~Deborah
