Happy Valentine’s Day

Stampin' Up! Stamping T! - Thoughtful Banners Valentine

I am a little early with my Valentine’s Day post (only a few hours though) but wanted to share the card I made for my husband this year with you before I forgot to.  Lucky for me he is not a daily visitor to my blog so this one will still be a surprise for him in the morning.

Now I bet you are thinking that this is a most unusual Valentine’s card – where is the red right?  Well this year I wanted to do something a little different from what I usually make for my husband (my Mini Sandwich Box was very traditional a few years ago).

INKspiration 03

So I used the colour palette for this fortnight’s Colour INKspiration to really test out my creative muscle.  I mean not even a red hue in sight no pink, blush, purple – nothing.  BUT I did love this colour combination and something I knew I could use to make a very unique and personal card for hubby.  I even decided to use my Easter stamp set from Stampin’ Up! Basket Bunch for my two little chick images – they are cute aren’t they?

I don’t actually have any Valentine’s Day type stamp sets, dies or accessories so you will see that my supplies list is a very ‘non-valentine’ assortment indeed!  I was pretty excited to see that the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up! not only had the perfect greeting for my card but also the ‘bar’ image which made a great background and showed off the colour combination wonderfully.

You may be wondering where I got my other “love” elements from for this card, easy really.  The heart is from the Mini Treat Bag Die, which I embossed with Woodgrain – sweet, and the arrow is made using the arrow shaped paper clip from the Project Life Paper Clips Thinlits.  The banner for my greeting is the ‘sash’ from the T-Shirt Builder Framelits – yes I love my dies!  It just goes to show you how versatile your supplies can be even when you don’t think you have anything!

This week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge is LOVE so also thought it would be great to submit my card for this week … wonder how many other cards won’t use red LOL.
