Floral Boutique Birthday

Stampin' Up! Stamping T! - Floral Boutique Birthday

From time to time I get asked to create a very special card to celebrate an amazing milestone / celebration and this is one of those cards.  A friend of mine at work was trying to find the perfect card to give to her mum who was turning 90 and, as you can imagine, the standard store offerings for “Happy 90th Birthday” is kind of limited.  So she asked if I would be willing to make a card for her to give to her mum.  Of course I would!

In a few words my ‘brief’ was: Blue, Spode China and Wrens.  For those not old enough to remember (or have never heard of it), this is what typically comes to mind when I think of Spode China …

Knowing I had the perfect Stampin’ Up! DSP in mind – Floral Boutique (the colours are a little darker but the designs remind me of the Spode look), the rest was pretty easy to pull together.

I think a 90th birthday deserves something a little more special than your regular ‘open and shut’ card so a quick flick through Pinterest for inspiration and I found easy instructions for this super “Double Display Card” on The Craft Spa which I thought was just perfect!

The only trouble I had was making sure that there was a good sized panel to write a personal greeting – the back panel of the card worked perfectly for this and I just used the same dimensions as for the inside – easy!

I had some much fun putting this card together and was so pleased to receive a text message from my friend saying her mum loved the card … nothing better than that for me!

Just beautiful and something different for a special milestone. I’m looking for a special card for 2 x 80th this year as well as 2 x 90th cards so I’d better get crackling.

Love your card in my favourite papers Tanya… not surprised your friends’ mum loved the card… and thanks for the link up too…

You certainly put a lot of thought and effort into making this special card for the lucky birthday boy. Your card for your friend’s mum is extra special too.
