Bugs and Blossoms

This week there is a super fun sketch for the Try Stampin’ On Tuesday site and it has a little extra ‘side theme’ of Bugs and Blossoms which is also just such a fun idea.  Now I don’t really own any ‘bug’ stamp sets but I do have the ‘A Fitting Occasion’ stamp set from Stampin’ Up! which does happen to have the cutest little lady bug in it that I thought was just too perfect for this challenge.  So with my lady bug as the central theme for my card I worked backwards to get my colour scheme and other elements for this card.  I have used a Basic Black card base and have added a plain white matt so that my other colours “popped”.  I have used some of the Real Red DSP from Stampin’ Up!, the spotty pattern of course, and trimmed the edge of the DSP with a little strip of Gumball Green cardstock that I fringed a little.  The greeting is from the “Hello, Lovely” stamp set, inked in Jet Black StazOn ink and matted onto a larger piece of Basic Black cardstock.  The images in the A Fitting Occasions stamp set are designed to coordinate with our circle and scallop circle punches perfectly so I punched out the lady bug with the 3/4″ circle, then layered onto a 1″ Real Red circle and finally onto a 1-1/4″ Gumball Green Scalloped circle … too easy!

I am super happy with this bright and cheery card and with the help of the sketch this card literally came together in minutes, love that!  Hope you find a little inspiration today and maybe even join in the challenge this week, here is the sketch …..
